The goal of this project is to create evidence-based recommendations for the use of communication technology that facilitate patient and family-centered care (PFCC), encourage meaningful communication, and develop therapeutic relationships in the ICU.

Using an inclusive Design Thinking process we will 1) collect and synthesize information to understand the current reality of PFCC, communication, and relationship development in the ICU; 2) Engage diverse stakeholders to brainstorm and envision a new future in which technology facilitates effective PFCC; and 3) evaluate ideas and make evidence-informed recommendations for technological solution(s) that will facilitate PFCC.
