The goal of my research program is to improve survival and quality of life in patients with brain injuries. I strive to develop trusting, productive relationships with my trainees and collaborators. We work hard but many of our most inspiring ideas come during our collaborative research group meetings.

We have four accomplished Scientists in the Neuroscience and Mental Health Research Program focused on TBI research: Drs. Anne-Marie Guerguerian, Anne Wheeler, Lili-Naz Hazrati, and me. Over the last 20 years we have developed biobanks and databases using biological samples and data from four prospective, multi-center, national and international studies of 700 children and adults with mild, moderate, and severe TBI. Using the biological samples and databases from these 4 studies, we are discovering and validating blood, neurophysiologic and neuroimaging biomarkers to help inform diagnosis and prognosis.

I also Co-Chair, with colleague, Dr. Alexis Turgeon (Université Laval, Quebec City), the Canadian Traumatic Brain Injury Research Consortium (CTRC). While we are proud that we have helped to create innovative research, and a rich education program for our CTRC scientists and trainees, we are especially dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families who live with TBI, and the outcomes of those who sustain injury in the future.
