Intensive Care Physician

I am a Critical Care specialist from Spain who came to Canada in 2014 to pursue additional research training. I completed my PhD in Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at University of Manitoba in 2022, I developed an animal model of sepsis and experimented with the sequence of antibiotics in combination to assess if the order of antibiotics could impact synergistic bacterial kill.

During the COVID 19 pandemic I transitioned to lead the ICU Clinical Trials at all Winnipeg sites, leading a group of 10-12 research coordinators among 3 hospitals and 7 ICUs. I am the research lead at Grace Hospital - ACT portfolio hospital. I hold funding from the ACT consortium and the Network of Clinical Trials Networks for research capacity building in community sites. I am helping Manitobans to access clinical trials and aim to embed clinical trials in standard practice.
