Karen Choong

Pediatric Subgroup (CCCPEDS)

Dr. Karen Choong practices pediatric critical care at McMaster Children’s Hospital. She is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, with adjunct appointments to the Departments of Critical Care, and Health Research Methods, Evidence and Impact at McMaster University. She is a graduate of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and completed fellowships in Neonatology as well as Pediatric Critical Care at the University of Toronto. 

Professor Choong’s research interests include PICU-based rehabilitation, sepsis, patient-centered outcomes research, prevention of PICU-acquired complications, and post-intensive care sequelae. Her EXERCISE research program (EXercise and Early Rehabilitation in Critically Ill children, a Systematic Evaluation) has pioneered evidence for early rehabilitation in critically ill children.
