Kirsten Fiest

Dr. Kirsten Fiest is an Assistant Professor of Critical Care Medicine, Community Health Sciences & Psychiatry at the University of Calgary. She received her PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Calgary and completed post-doctoral training in neuro and psychiatric epidemiology from the University of Manitoba.

Her research program focuses on advancing the science of patient and family-centered critical care research. Her current work examines the role of family in detecting delirium in the critically ill. Kirsten teaches Introduction to Epidemiology at the graduate level and is the author of “Epidemiology for Canadian Students Workbook”, which is used in Epidemiology courses across the country. Kirsten research team includes undergraduate and graduate students, research assistants, coordinators, and managers, and research nurses. She is supported by operating grants from the M.S.I. Foundation, University of Calgary Cumming School of Medicine, Alberta Health Services, and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
