Early Rehabilitation in Critically Ill Children Study (PICU-Liber8)
Abstract: The objective of this study was to implement an early rehabilitation bundle in two Canadian Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICUs). The intervention consisted of rehabilitation bundle: 1) analgesia-first sedation; 2) delirium monitoring and prevention; and 3) early mobilization. Primary outcomes were implementation based, i.e. duration, uptake, safety, acceptability, impact on process of care, and factors influencing implementation. Secondary outcomes were efficacy based – impact on short term clinical outcomes and longer term functional and quality-of-life outcomes.
