Heparin Anticoagulation to improve Outcomes in septic shock (HALO)

Principal Investigator(s):

Ryan Zarychanski, Dean Ferguson, and Anand Kumar

HALO is an international collaborative trial to evaluate whether IV unfractionated heparin reduces mortality in patients with septic shock. If unfractionated is shown to improve survival in patients with vasodilatory shock, this would forward a new standard of care for septic patients around the world.
