CCCTG Data Initiatives Supporting Critical Care Research and Quality Improvement
We are pleased to announce a Call for Ideas for Data Initiatives Supporting Critical Care Research and Quality of Care Improvement.
One of the Canadian Critical Care Trials Group’s (CCCTG) key objectives through the Community Development Grant obtained from the CIHR Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health is to enhance the impact of our research by improving our ability to systematically collect data relevant to research, clinical care and quality improvement initiatives.
In order to achieve this goal, the CCCTG will provide catalyst funding to support initiative(s) aimed at catalyzing, harmonizing and coordinating the collection of critical care data in Canada. We would like to build on initiatives that are already underway or those that may lead to partnered, sustainable programs. This call for funding/ideas is designed to stimulate thinking in this area, be a focal point for the best ideas, provide a forum to discuss merits, promise, and feasibility of these ideas, and to provide catalyst funding towards establishing durable and broadly applicable data initiatives. This development project will be anchored by the CCCTG’s strategic axes of prioritized research. Ideally, proposed initiatives should engage patient and patient family members, a broad range of critical care clinician and research stakeholders, hospital and health system decision-makers, and other organizations that have expertise and experience in data collection.
The CCCTG will award up to $150,000 (to fund 1-3 projects at $50,000 - $150,000, depending upon projects submitted) to cover costs of infrastructure and/or data capture components. Up to $10,000 will be available to organize a meeting among those submitting ideas, collaborators, others interested from the CCCTG, and relevant stakeholders, including patients and family members to enrich and plan final submissions.
Two information sessions will be organized: one mid-May by teleconference and one during the CCCTG Spring 2019 meeting.
