The CCCTG Career Development & Mentorship subcommittee consists of CCCTG members and other clinician educators from across Canada who are responsible for coordinating the content of the annual Residents Research Day (see below).

Research Career Development Day
The CCCTG hosts an annual
Research Career Development Day to promote research education for all critical care trainees across Canada. The day consists of talks geared to trainees from CCCTG members on research-related topics such as:
- Career planning
- How to write a grant and manuscript
- The role of the Research Ethics Board
- Etc.
In addition, trainees have the opportunity to present their research projects for feedback from the CCCTG membership on issues such as methodology, statistics, and patient recruitment.
The next Research Career Development Day will take place on
May 30, 2022 in conjunction with the CCCTG Spring Scientific Meeting in Montréal.
Following the Research Career Development Day on
May 30
, trainees are invited to present their ongoing research (when applicable) at the CCCTG Spring 2022 Scientific Meeting on the afternoon of
Tuesday, May 31.
How to Register
Any interested trainee can attend the Research Day by completing the
registration form. If you wish to present (encouraged, but not mandatory), please also include a 1-page abstract with your form.
To be considered for a travel grant, please submit the
Education Travel Award application form in addition to you registration form and 1-page abstract. Details about the Education Travel Award can be found
here.

The Deborah J. Cook Mentorship Award
The Deborah J. Cook Mentorship Awards are given out to emphasize the importance of mentors in developing Canada's next generation of critical care researchers. The Awards will honour persons who have made exceptional contributions to the promotion of critical care research among Canadian fellows, graduate and post-graduate students, young investigators, research coordinators and allied health care providers.
As funding permits, the CCCTG hopes on one award annually of $500 each.

The Education Travel Award
Through this Education Travel Award, the CCCTG seeks to emphasize the importance of developing Canada's next generation of critical care researchers and to encourage critical care trainees to attend the Research Career Development Day.
As funding permits, the total amount available for this funding opportunity is $5,000 per year. The CCCTG hopes to provide up to 10 awards annually.
