News events
This year the Canadian Critical Care Trials Group (CCCTG) is proud to celebrate its 20th year in existence. During this time, we have seen the group grow from 25 to over 200 members, obtain over 25 CIHR grants, have over 75 peer-reviewed publications, including nine in the The New England Journal of Medicine. More importantly, these studies have already started to influence the care of critically ill adults and children as manifest by the development and implementation of clinical practice guidelines for the prevention and management of ventilator associated pneumonia, a decrease in the number of transfusions given to critically ill children and a decrease in the use of hypothermia for head injured children. This is a testament to both the hard work of the investigating teams as well as the mentorship, dedication and quality of the academic support provided by the membership of the CCCTG.
